Healthy Skin

– I’ll drink to that.

Having healthy skin is a great asset to have. It not only looks good but feels good too. But how does one make their skin… healthy? This month find out how to achieve really healthy skin – using the most simple and natural ingredient of all.

If you do your research into healthy skin, you’ll find it has a core factor to its success:

…Water, water and… more water.

So drink... plenty of it!

It’s tried - and it’s true. Drinking water is one of the best ways to make your skin healthy – and keep it healthy too. Pretty good for something that has no shape, colour, smell or taste in particular!

Make water... your healthy skin’s best friend

As mentioned in last month’s article on organic skin care, the human body - and its largest organ (the skin) needs a lot of water to keep it hydrated and healthy. You should aim to drink 33 x your body weight (in kilos) of water each day to help you achieve and maintain healthy skin. Drink filtered water as much as you can also. Naturally the purer the water, the kinder it will be to your skin’s health and well being. (If you can help it, drink self-filtered water rather than purchasing bottled water, as it will be ‘healthier and friendlier’ on the environment too). Try carrying a flask with you at all times so you can have filtered water on call (just like a good friend!) In fact I saw a really groovy water bottle / flask the other day from Lulu Lemon that is black and has pink writing on it saying: “Live, Dance, Floss”. (Very Cool!)

Treat your Healthy Skin ...to a ‘drink’.

Treat your skin to a healthy drink by spraying your face with water every now and again (particularly nice in the summer months). For Natural Skin Care alternatively, use a linen compress or clean face washer to gently press on your face. Try this after using an organic cleanser and before using an organic moisturiser. You’ll find an organic moisturiser will lock in the water and your face will hydrate – keeping your skin healthy and happy!

Ice Ice Baby... for healthy skin?

I’ve heard that if you have puffy eyes, or bags under your eyes that an ice cube wrapped in a cotton napkin will do the trick. I would be weary if you have broken capillaries on your cheeks - and personally I would let the ice warm a little before trying this one. Admittedly I haven’t tried this technique as of yet, so if you give it a go - let me know what you think via the Integrity Cosmetics Face Book Page.
